Manual
Buttons
- Reset: Sets the values of the parameters to those shown
in the boxes and reinitializes the plot (e.g. resets the initial
value to x0).
- Clear: Clears the plot, but does not reset the
parameter values and maintains the current value of x .
- Start: Starts repeated time-stepping and plotting.
Clear can be used while the evolution is proceeding if the
display becomes scrambled.
- Stop: Stops the evolution and allows the parameters to
be changed.
Text Boxes
Note that the parameter values are not updated until either
Enter is hit on the keyboard or the Reset button is
pushed. An entered value that is out of the allowed range is not
accepted.
- a,b,c: Parameters of the Lorenz Equations
- dt: Time step for integrating equations
- x-axis, y-axis: Set the variables plotted on x
and y axes: 0->t; 1->X(t); 2->Y(t);
3->Z(t).
- tran: Sets the number of dt time steps over which
transients are eliminated and a phantom plot is drawn.
- X0, Y0, Z0: Initial values of the variables.
- dX0, dY0, dZ0: Changes in initial values for the second
evolution to illustrate the sensitive dependence on initial
conditions. (If tr an is nonzero, the perturbation is
applied at the end of the transient.)
Scrollbar
- Speed: sets the iteration and animation speed, roughly
in updates per second.
