Swift-Hohenberg Equation - Eckhaus Instability

Stripes + Random Squeezing Stripes + Random Perturbation

The Swift-Hohenberg equation is simulated at eps=0.3. The initial state is stripes with wave number 1.178, just Eckhaus unstable, plus a small random perturbation. In the first frame the random perturbation is uniform in the y direction to show "one-dimensional" behavior. In the second frame the perturbation is random in both x amd y directions. Interesting things start to happen around a time of 120 - you might want to reduce the speed to 1 at this point. Look at the variation in the Fourier components as well by setting Plot FFT to Yes.
